I’m Nicole Kaufman, illustrator and surface pattern designer.
As luck would have it, I got to spend my childhood summers in Greece. The beauty of classical sites, rocky islands, and long, hot summers still inspire my inky drawings which are suffused with subtle undertones of ancient lands and my love of symbols and mark making.
Black ink is essential in my work. It's bold, immediate, and unapologetic. It creates sensuous blobs, quirky shapes, and sexy lines. I love the drama of it!
Happy clients:

We partnered with Nicole when we were going through a complete brand refresh. Nicole’s illustrations were the perfect vehicle to capture the artistry and humanity at the heart of the Whole Foods Market brand. She helped lay the foundation of our “Modern Organic” approach to visual communication. Nicole is extremely collaborative, works quickly, and takes great pride in her work. A true artist.

Nicole is an art director’s friend; she listens, asks questions, is responsive, adventurous, and delivers art that tells the story in lush expressive lines. Her inky lines are alive, yet she controls them, holding back, only illustrating exactly what is needed.
